South Korea Beautiful Places, Buyeo tour guide 



Buyeo located in the southwestern part of Chungcheongnam-do. And as of November 2014, the area is 624.6㎢ with a population of 71,809. In the province, it is the fifth largest city after Gongju, Seosan, Dangjin, and Cheonan.



The place incubating the history of Baekje


Byueo that the spirit of Baekje is alive is Beautiful Places in South Korea. It’s the city of history and culture with deeply rooted spirit of filial piety and entrepreneurship.

'Baekje' was an ancient kingdom located in parts of southern Manchuria (Northeast China) and South Korea. With a great ambition, the 26th king of Baekje 'King Seong' transferred the capital to the prosperous and beautiful Sabi(Buyeo). For 123 years, the city built up the national strength and actively engaged in diplomatic activities, blossoming the ancient culture. 



Buso Mountain Fortress 


Visitors are able to look without a car and walk around. The historic buildings still thrive in Buyeo. And they serve as some wonderful photographic sites.

Lookng at the last day of Baekje

With the centrality of Baekje capital city which was used as a back garden of the palace while being used the last defense line at he time of wars.

There are Gunchangji, Nakhwaam, Goransa, Youngilru, Sajaru, etc. inside the fortress and Baengmagang-River which had taken the role of trade path with China and Japan in the ancient times, is flowing nearby.

1. Samchungsa Shrine

Samchungsa shrine was built in 1957 to pay a tribute to three loyal subjects of Baekje ; Seongchung, Heungsu and Guebaek.

Seongchung, as a chief minister, was a loyal subject who died in a prison during he was off food after he put behind the bar for fighting against the corrupt policy during the King Euija's reign of Baekje. 

Heungsu was famous for earnestly asking King Euija to protect Tanhyeon(a valley at Sikjangsan Mountain in currently Okcheon region) when Allied Forces of Silla-Tnag attacked Baekje.

Gyebaek was a general of Baekje who died gloriously in the Battle of Hwangsanbeol with his 5,000 soldiers against General Kim Yu-sin and his 50,000 forces.




2. Yeongilru Pavilion

The place was quiet because we went to Buyeo last winter.




3. Military Warehouse Site

This military warehouse site is located on the small peak to the east of Busosanseong Fortress in Buyeo. In 1915, burnt grains such as rice, barley and beans were excavated in this area, and it was revealed that this site was once occupied by a warehouse used to store food for the army. 





4. Banwolru Pavilion

The view from the top of the Banwolru Pavilion is beautiful.





4. Sajaru Pavilion

Originally called Gaesallu Pavilion, this building was the main gate of the government office in Imcheon-myeon. in 1919. It was moved to Songwoldae, the highest post(106m above sea level) of Busosanseong Foretess, and renamed as Sajaru Pavilion.




5. Nakhwaam Rock

It is the rock standing out as though watching down Baengmagang-River from the north of Buso-Mountain.


「The Heritage of the three States」 there was the story of the women of Baekje who kikked themselves to protect their loyalty and integrity on the day of Baekje's ruination(year 660). Thus this is the place to remind us of despair over the country's ruination.

The name of this rock, Nakhwaam, literally means "the cliff of falling flowers" and symbolizes the fidelity and loyalty of Baekje women.




6. Baekhwajeong Pavilion

Baekhwajeong is a hexagonal pavilion established on the top on Nakhwaam Rock near Geumgang River in the northern area of Busosanseong Fortress in Buyeo. The construction of this pavilion was suggested by Hong Han-pyo, the Magistrate of Buyeo, and supported by a poetry society called Bupungsisa. the name Baekhwa was derived from a poem titled 'Ganggeumsusa Baekhwasu,' which was composed by a Chinese poet Su Dongop. 

As one of the main scenic tourist attractions in Buyeo, it forms part of a beautiful landscape along with the Baengmagang River as it flows around Buyeo and a nearby range of low hills.




7. Goransa Temple

It is small size temple located in Baengmagang river cliff under Nakhwaam. There ard Goran-orchid and Goran mineral water behind Buddhist sanctuary. 

It was told that the Baekje King, who enjoyed drinking Goran mineral water that had excellent medicinal effect, had always ordered to get Goran herbs that was growing on stones and checked whether they were indeed Goran mineral water.

One of the murals of Goransa Temple is painted story that the royal court women of Baekje  jumped off to kill themselves in Nakhwaam Rock.





8. Baengmagang-River

Geum-River, which has the meaning of the Baekje's largest river since it flows like a silk layer, eventually gets to be named as Baengmagang-River upon arriving at Cheonjeongadae in Gyuam-myeon Hoam-ri. Baengmagang-River is the biggest calle d the river of Baekje. It is connected Nakhwaam, Wangheungsaji, Gudeurae ferry, Busan Gakeseosuk · Daejaegak, Subukjeong, Jaonade, etc. along the river and finally connected to Sedo-myeon and Banjowon-ri.

We got on the boat and looked around the Baengmagang river. The one-way ticket to Gudeurae is ₩ 4,000(adult standard). 




We ate set menu with steamed rice wrapped in a lotus leaf at a restaurant near the Gudeurae Ferry. It's good.
